Foo Fighters White Limo - Prodigy Mix? 09/28/2011
Not sure if this is really a Prodigy Mix of Foo Fighter's White Limo, but hey, it's kinda interesting (original link here). I'm not sure if I'm doing a service or a disservice by posting this, but let me know what you think. What do I think? Well, let's see. First of all, I'm not a Prodigy fan or an electronic music fan and for all of Dave's comments about how they didn't use any computers and that no self-respecting rock band should need to use computers at live shows, this is rather ironic. But it is interesting to me to listen to it and hear some of the individual tracks brought out by themselves, like the guitars or the vocals. I can hear the vocals clearer in this version. I think it's worth listening to about twice. No, one and a half times. 2 Comments I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl (Too) 09/08/2011
There is a new song out by a group called The Wavves and it is called "I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl." Um, yeah, who doesn't? You know what will probably happen? Because he is so cool and the nicest guy in Rock and all that, Dave Grohl will get wind of this somehow and he will go out of his way to meet the guy who wrote this song and they will have a nice photo-op and smile and hug. This is my prediction. I wonder what would happen if he ever got wind of my song "I Hate Dave Grohl?" Would he go out of his way for me? He probably would actually. He'd come over to my house and punch me in the face. Or ignore me completely. Probably the latter. To be ignored or to be punched in the face? That is the question. Hmm...I think I'd rather be punched in the face. But then I think about how hard he hits the drums and I wonder if that's such a good idea. I think I'll risk it. Hey Dave, if you ever read this, I am officially inviting you to come to my house and punch me in the face. Then we can have a nice photo-op and smile and hug. Oh yeah, here's the song if you'd like to hear it. It's cool. And here is my song, I Hate Dave Grohl. Go here to download a copy for yourself. Or listen here, that's fine too: The world premiere of the Foo Fighter's first single, "Rope", off their new album occurred yesterday at 7AM EST. It's a bold choice for a first single; odd time signatures, breathy vocals in the verses, big catchy chorus, plus the sickest guitar solo on a Foo Fighters album yet. Bravo, Mr. Grohl and Company, bravo. Here's the link: http://rope.foofighters.com/ In my efforts to Beat Dave Grohl, I hereby release the first "single" off of our new album too. Okay, it was already released on an EP, but it will be on the new album and you can hear it below. It also is a bold choice for a first single I would like to point out. I know, most people wouldn't choose a slow tempo, slightly depressing song inspired by the sad state of Michigan's economy as the first single to their mostly uptempo country punk album, but Brother Howe is not most people. Nor are we most people's favorite band for that matter (editors note: there might be a connection there). And so dear readers, without further ado, I present to you the first single off our forthcoming album: Hard To Find ps - I dedicate this song to Jeff Daniels, who's love of our home state inspired my brother to write an award nominated screenplay, which then inspired me to write this song. I also would like to take this opportunity to apologize to Mr. Daniels for trying to pitch him on said screenplay on February 5th of this year. To listen to approximately 30 seconds of the new album opening track, "Bridge Burning" click on the link above. Be prepared to hate it for it's awesomeness. Paul over at fooarchive.com made some notes a couple of days ago on the latest phone interview with Dave about their completed album. http://www.fooarchive.com/news/?p=291 Steve Harris Interview at xfm where Dave talks about recording in his house, what the album is going to sound like (big), when it's going to come out (spring) and the huge shows they have planned in the summer. http://www.xfm.co.uk/artists/interviews/steve-harris-speaks-to-dave-grohl Here's an article about what the home life of Dave Grohl is/was for the recording of the album. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/3205399/Foo-Fighter-Dave-Grohl-talks-fame-and-family.html I hate Dave Grohl and so should you. You've got four days left if you want to listen to Dave Grohl narrate the John Bonham Story on the BBC. It's available on their website for internet streaming. Enjoy. (Or don't. It's up to you. I'm just providing the opportunity and the reminder. No skin off my back if you don't. Really.) Talk About A Charmed Life 04/08/2010
Sometimes I can’t even believe it. I just read the New York Daily News review of Slash’s new album, in which Slash plays guitar and has a bunch of guest stars singing and playing with him. The reviewer talks about how some of it works really well (especially Lemmy and Chris Cornell – yea!), and some of it doesn’t. Being the Dave Grohl hater that I am, I know he contributed by playing drums on one track. In fact, he turned Slash down when asked to sing, but said he’d love to play drums. As I'm reading the review, I’m waiting for the bombshell about what really DIDN’T work and that was the Dave Grohl collaboration because I can tell it's building to something, but what get’s saved for the final paragraph of the review is this: Ironically, the track that works best offers no guest vocalist at all. "Watch This” reunites Slash with GNR alum Duff, and adds Dave Grohl on drums, to create a teeth-melting instrumental. The result proves that Slash could have gone the Jeff Beck route, letting his brilliant guitar work assume the fullness of a human voice for an entire CD. One day let's hope he works up the nerve to do so. I guess it’s a good thing Dave refused to sing! That guy has got amazing instincts. I keep waiting for the time when Dave Grohl does something that falls flat; the day when he does something that not only isn’t good/great, but maybe even sucks a little bit. Until then, my hate continues to grow… Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/2010/04/07/2010-04-07_slashs_brilliant_guitar_work_takes_a_backseat_to_showy_collaborations_on_his_fir.html#ixzz0kT6x5Jdu Here’s a phone interview with Dave Grohl on the eve of Them Crooked Vulture's Australian tour. He explains the origins of the new super group, which had its beginnings at Dave’s 40th birthday party at Medieval Times (I’m sure there’s some sort of joke in there). He also talks about how he ended up playing on Slash’s new album that’s coming out.

Editor's Note: Before leaving a profanity laced comment full of grammar and spelling errors telling me to get a life, that I'm a loser, that Dave Grohl is a great guy and what is my problem, etc., etc, I would ask you to slow down, take a deep breath and actually read the article or if you have read it (maybe a little quickly), read it again until you are in on the joke. Then we can all be friends.
