I’ve been a big fan of Dave Grohl’s music for a long time.  But what I realized is that I don’t know all that much about him as a person, like what his story is.  It’s all very sketchy: he was part of the Washington D.C. hardcore scene, he was in a band called Scream, he became the drummer for Nirvana, he grew up in Virginia, etc.   I just have these bits and pieces of facts from his life.  So I decided to get a biography.  From Amazon, “The Dave Grohl Story” seemed to get a lot of good reviews, so that’s the one I purchased.

It came in the mail and I’ve just started reading the first chapter.  I have a pet peeve about biographies.  The author ends up doing a lot of research and then feels like they should include everything.  This author is no exception.  He’s telling me about Dave Grohl’s parents and his grandparents.  He’s telling me what’s going on in 1969, the year Dave Grohl is born.  He’s telling me all about Warren, Ohio, the town where Dave Grohl was born.  Like all about it.  Why am I reading about dates during the Civil War?  This isn’t the Dave Grohl story, it’s the Warren, Ohio story.

I hate Dave Grohl’s biography.
