Congratulations to Foo Fighters on being nominated for six Grammy's this year.  Pretty good for an album recorded in a garage.  Here are the categories:

ALBUM OF THE YEAR – WASTING LIGHT.  Competing against Adele and Lady Gaga, I'm not sure how good of a shot they've got at this one.

BEST ROCK PERFORMANCE – “WALK”.  "Performance" means "song" and they are competing against Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, the Decemberists and Radio Head, there is stiff competition, but not a bad chance.

BEST HARD ROCK PERFORMANCE – “WHITE LIMO”.  Others in this category are Mastedon, Megadeth, Sum 41 and Dream Theater.  White Limo is a great, hard rock song and I think the Foo's have a good chance at this although I'm not sure they really should win.  Yes they should.  It's Hard Rock, not Heavy Metal. 

BEST ROCK SONG – “WALK”.  Not sure why this is different than Best Rock Performance.  I must admit I don't understand these categories.

BEST ROCK ALBUM – WASTING LIGHT. Others nominated here are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, Wilco and Jeff Beck.

BEST LONG FORM MUSIC VIDEO – FOO FIGHTERS: BACK & FORTH. 

So anyway, Dave Grohl beat me and got nominated for a bunch of Grammy's.  Good for him.

Since they are competing with lady gaga and adele something is clearly wrong with this DFGASDFASLDJFAS awards.

Lame is as well the bunch of categories that could be resumed in one, like the ones you point (performance/song).

But the thing that annoys me the most is that for the big prize they picked a song that is just nice (not as much as the video), but no way is better than 3 or 4 other songs in the album, and not only because a matter of taste, Walk is cool but doesn't seem to bring anything new or specially interesting, what indeed can be found in some other very nice Wasting light songs.

I'm not sure how really important is this for mr Grohl, if much i hope he wins (cuz i hate him! x ) but well i will finish saying that i just don't care what happens here... i just get passionate sometimes.

You've got some good points there and I agree. Lots of great songs to choose from and the whole awards thing I just don't understand - the categories are convoluted and a lot of the bands don't seem to be in the right categories either. Remember when Jethro Tull won Heavy Metal album of the year beating out Metallica (1990 maybe)? Just doesn't make sense.
